Summary of the presentation:
Due to the heavy nature of this subject, we can tailor our “speech” according to the desire of the group but in general, this is what we are asked to share;
Most people are completely unaware that American children are being sexually exploited and sex trafficked right here in the United States – and it is happening EVEN IN ORANGE COUNTY!
It is our desire to raise awareness of this issue, educate on ways to keep the children safe and explain how New Day For Children helps America’s children recovered from sex trafficking. (People need to know there is specialized help available and hope can be offered to these children specifically.)
Since 2009, New Day has been providing long term restorative care to recovered kids though safe housing, restorative therapy, education, medical care, family therapy, long term mentoring and SO much more. *Many of the children we have served over the past 15 years have been from Southern California. Studies have shown that without restorative care, these recovered children typically end up becoming victims again or turn to drugs and other harmful vices to numb the pain.
Their life expectancy is 5-7 years once they fall victim.
The AVERAGE age of child victims is 8 years old for boys and 12 years old for girls. (Though many victims are much younger)
It is a heavy and awful issue BUT change is absolutely possible if good people come together and take action!
This is an issue that must be fought by more than just law-enforcement, social workers and government officials. As parents, grandparents and community citizens, we can make a huge difference!
The greatest way to take action is by raising awareness to this horrendous crime and by simply educating our communities on ways to prevent children from falling victim. There is hope and we would love to show your Rotary Club how they can take action as well as support the efforts of New Day For Children if you so desire.
