At HISOC, we provide transitional housing, essential support, and community driven solutions to help individuals move from homelessness to stability. Through services like Housing Transition Navigation, Housing Deposits, and Housing Tenancy and Sustaining, we create lasting pathways to permanent housing. I would be presenting about the HomeShare OC Program, where we match college students with homeowners who have a spare room to rent in their home. We help throughout the process and help facilitate phone calls and in person meetings so you can see if the person is a good fit for you. In exchange for lower rent, the students typically help out around the house with basic things like cleaning up, running errands, yard work, etc. There’s a short video about the program here: www.homeshareoc.org This program was created and is run by Homeless Intervention Services of Orange County, a non-profit organization dedicated to ending homelessness.
